Being The World’s Oldest Prison, Shepton Mallet has two different prison themed state-of the-art escape rooms to choose from; The Cell is a pulse racing, mind-manipulating escape experience to test your wit, from battling the locks and solving puzzles to gain your freedom, whilst The Hole takes place in a darker prison cell designed to hold notorious escape specialists…will you take on the challenge and look to escape to freedom?
All escape room visits come with a FREE Self-Guided Tour included, which provides access throughout our historical heritage-led attraction, making this a truly great value for money day out. As an ‘escapee’ you can take time to explore the prison at your own pace, you might not be able to be a true ‘escapee’ as Shepton Mallet Prison has the highest prison walls in the country.
Take a wander around at your leisure, discover our vast areas from interpretation spaces, prison wings, to the exercise yard and execution shed during your visit behind bars, plus look to capture your ‘mugshots’ at our ‘CELL’fie points throughout the prison.
Extend your sentence by completing one of our new and exciting Activity Booklets, designed with children and adults in mind who like to take on that extra competitive, fun-filled challenge whilst exploring the historical elements from what life was like as a prisoner in 1625, to the Crime and Punishment of the modern day.
